My name is Otter Thomas and welcome to Life of a New Dad. Scratch that. My real name is Robert. I stole Otter Thomas from my dog when I created this blog back in 2008. My dog Otter got his full name (Otter Thomas Wocinski) from a Seinfeld character that appeared in exactly one episode. His full name was Raymond Thomas Wocinski. If you know that guy then you are definitely in the right spot.This is the place where I write about my life as a dad. I was once a new dad, but my son is now 2 years old. He is the focal point of my life and of this blog. The other shared focal point of my life is my wife Arica and you will read alot about her as well.
I also use this blog to wonder aloud about the challenges of raising my son. I write about things that I think are important. I write about places where I've failed, and I write about the things that go right. Hopefully I manage to mix a little humor in there too.
I love sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals. I love hunting and fishing. I love TV and movies. You will definitely read about all these things at Life of a New Dad. Seinfeld is a favorite topic, along with Cheers, and the Simpsons. You can also find Star Wars and good ole Clint Eastwood. You just never know what you might read about on any given day.
I draw my inspiration from all places. Music plays a role too. I love Pearl Jam and have even been known to show up at a Hank Williams Jr. concert. Basically life as it happens inspires what I write here. I hope you enjoy.
